Japanese Cultural Festival 2012

2012 Japanese Culture FestivalThe Santa Fe Go Club will again be demonstrating and introducing Go to visitors at the Japanese Cultural Network’s Annual Japanese Cultural Festival (Matsuri) to be held at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center on Saturday, March 31st, 2012. Rumor has it the Silent Auction includes an item for 4hrs one on one Go Tutoring for beginners or double-digit kyu players.

Would you like to help us in presenting Go on behalf of the Santa Fe Go Club? It’s really a lot of fun. All you have to do is show up in one of two shifts from 9am – 1:30pm or 1:30pm to 6pm. (The first shift helps setup and the second helps striking.) We will be located in the lobby with equipment, handouts and a magnetic demo board. There will be playing space for 9×9 and 13×13 and 19×19 boards. You only really need to share your enthusiasm for the game. BTW, typical attendance at the festival is 5000+, so this offers us a terrific opportunity to raise awareness of this fascinating game with other New Mexicans. To help, email us at for more information.

The festival is open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm and show cases Japanese performing arts, culture and food. There will be special guest performers from Japan, traditional and contemporary arts and crafts (see above).
